After the tiles are laid, the gaps between the tiles need to be filled. So, how should the tile grout be applied?
After tiling, it's essential to fill the gaps between the tiles. So, how should tile grout be applied?
The steps for applying grout are:
1. Surface Treatment
Grouting should be done 24 hours after the tiles are laid. Before applying the grout, clean the tile gaps, removing dust, oil, and other debris. Loose tile adhesive in the gaps should also be removed.
2. Grout Mixing
According to the mixing ratio, pour clean water into the mixing bucket first, then add the powder, and use an electric mixer to thoroughly mix it into a uniform, lump-free paste. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then mix again before use for better results.
3. Grout Application
After tiling, use cross-shaped spacers to create gaps between tiles (no less than 2mm), and clean the tile surface promptly. Take protective measures; avoid water splashing on the tiles during and within 24 hours after tiling. Grouting can only be done after the tile adhesive is completely dry (approximately 7 days later). Use a grout float to press the grout into the gaps along the diagonal of the tiles. After filling the gaps, scrape off the excess grout. After the grout has dried (approximately 20 minutes), wipe it clean with a slightly damp sponge. If any stains remain on the tiles after the grout has dried for more than 24 hours, they can be removed with water or a special tile cleaner.
Besides the above, what other precautions should be known when using grout?
First, do not apply grout at temperatures below 5℃ or above 35℃; do not apply it to surfaces that are constantly damp, waterlogged, or submerged; avoid exterior wall application in rain, fog, or strong winds.
Furthermore, the mixed grout should be used within 1-2 hours; strictly prohibit adding cement, sand, or other additives to the product to avoid damaging the original formula; do not add water to dried grout and reuse it.

How to distinguish between building waterproof materials, home decoration waterproof materials, and engineering waterproof materials? Different building parts have different requirements for waterproof materials. Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages. There is no material that can be used for everything. Various materials can only complement each other, but not replace each other. They each have their own uses. The requirements for materials for roof waterproofing and basement waterproofing are different, and the waterproofing of bathrooms and walls is even more different. Sloped roofs, roofs with complex shapes, and metal plate base roofs are also different. Careful consideration should be given when selecting materials.
